NRT Acquires 17 acres along the WWII Veterans’ Memorial Trail

The parcel has nearly a mile of existing trails in good condition. A portion of the trails goes along Back Bay Brook and circumvents a wetland area. Th entrance will be about a third of the way down from Branch Street towards Fruit Street.

NRT president Lou Andrews says, "The property is in a great location. It will give the NRT a positive exposure to the many rails-to-trails users. Once you enter the property you think you were in Maine or New Hampshire. Over time we plan to provide educational signs along the trails about protecting our wetlands and woodland areas.”
Plans are to make improvement by adding signs, marking and adding new trails.

WWII Veterans’ Memorial Nature Trail

is located 1/4 mile from the Branch street entrance to the rails-to-trails bike path and 3/4 of a mile from Fruit Street. Best parking is at the Fruit Street entrance. Parking is limited and on the street at the Branch Street entrance. Click here for trail map.
